Observations, Interviews and Child Goals Each year, our team of teachers begins the year asking each child what his/her goal is for the coming school year. The children are excited to share what THEY want to learn. Some children note very simple things like how to tie a shoe and others note very complex goals like learn about Germany. Our team of teachers will take each child's goal and figure out how to incorporate it into our curriculum. It begins as a daunting challenge to weave 115 child goals into our already busy curriculum, but, our team does with with pride! The true challenge is to remind the children what his/her goal is on a regular basis and document how each child is progressing. However, this can be accomplished with great time management and having the children think of his/her goal as something they can contribute to our program. Below you will find examples, templates and tools that our team of teachers use to help keep focus of how easy it is to incorporate a child centered curriculum by using individual child goals, portfolio collection and teacher observation. Our teaching team aims to reach the whole child on an individual level. Thus, it helps create a caring community of children who respect each-others goals, interested and abilities. Please feel free to use the templates below to help enhance your program and feel free to contact us should you have specific questions, concerns or ideas on how to enhance our current system. Thank you for taking the time to view this important information as teaching a child centered curriculum will only enhance the curriculum, program and strengthen your teaching team. Warmly, Noelle Ahearn, Director and the HEDP Teaching Team firstname.lastname@example.org
Tuition Assistance Heath Extended Day aims to assist low or moderate-income families, families in special circumstances, or families with two or more children in childcare. Heath Extended Day does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, cultural heritage, national or ethnic origin, age, handicap, sex, marital status, or political beliefs.
Tuition Assistance offered by Heath Extended Day is a partnership that draws on the combined resources of the family and our limited tuition assistance funding. The Heath Extended Day Program believes that the primary responsibility for payment, lies to the extent possible, with families themselves. We offer tuition assistance on a semester basis and encourage all families to apply during the 1st semester (September 1st) and 2nd semester (February 1st).
Heath Extended Day is almost exclusively funded through tuition and offered on a need basis, making funding for Tuition Assistance unpredictable from year to year. Therefore, Heath Extended Day is unable to award families more than 50% of their total tuition costs. Eligibility for tuition assistance is highly confidential and is determined by a committee that is only presented with facts and numbers from the director. We take pride in keeping true to our confidentiality statements.
The Heath Extended Day Program understands that for some families it may be easier to pay over more than monthly predictable payments. Therefore, the Heath Extended Day Program Bookkeeper, Linda Chessman and Director, Noelle Ahearn are available to create such a payment plan if requested.
If you wish to submit a Tuition Assistance Application at this time, please review all materials including the State Medium Income Guidelines, complete the full application, and mail all necessary paperwork to the Director as soon as possible. The tuition assistance committee will meet and make decisions by as applications are received. If you have any questions or concerns, please phone Noelle at 617-277-5381. Thank you for your cooperation.

Testimonials from families who have received Tuition Assistance: Dear HEDP, I can't tell you how grateful I am for the tuition assistance you awarded my child. One year, my family, due to unforeseen circumstances, found us in dire straits. I needed someone to take care of my child after school a couple of times a week because of work commitments and didn't have the money to do so. I spoke to my child's teacher and she suggested I contact extended day. Everyone was so helpful and I was thrilled to see how quickly my request was approved. My child has had an incredibly positive experience at Heath Extended Day. If my child had his/her way, he/she would be in extended day everyday. If it wasn't for the financial assistance provided for my child, my job would have been in jeopardy. I am a single parent with multiple children and I don't want to think about what my life would look like right now if I had lost my job. I owe you my gratitude and deepest thanks for helping my family to remain on solid ground. I'll never forget your generosity and kindness. My family thanks you so much.
Dear HEDP, I am very grateful that I had been awarded tuition assistance this past year. As you know, the challenges of having a child needing after school care can be very difficult, especially for those families living in a one income household. Tuition assistance has significantly lessened the burden and anxiety of trying to figure out how on earth I would have been able to pay for extended day each month, and so made it possible to concentrate on the things that really matter like, school, friends and family. I cannot express to you enough, my gratitude and appreciation to have been awarded tuition assistance. You are all the best!! Thank you!!!
