We welcomed Spring by creating a new bulletin board outside the classroom, we hope it brings the warm weather! We celebrated two birthdays on March 22nd by decorating sugar cookies and crown cards!
These next few months we will be focusing on interesting places throughout the United States. We will explore different cities and National Parks. 1-2 APRIL NEWS
Happy spring to all of you! I know that all of the friends in our class are excited for the warmer weather and we are as well but please make sure your child brings boots that have an affinity for mud, due to the fact that there is sooo much in and around the playground. Wellies would be perfect if you have them.
Last month we organized our first Hawaii Day and it was a great success! The class took part in Hawaii 5 o trivia, they learned the difference between coconut water and milk, figured out how many drops it would take to crack a coconut, made Hawaiian smoothies and an ambrosia fruit salad then finally ended our day with a luau!
Please check out the artwork on the walls in the classroom, the children worked quite hard on the spring garden theme as well as their Georgia O’Keefe flowers. Our friend Thomas headed up the planets and martians scene while celebrating
Uranus’s birthday, so check that out as well!
The classroom Bean Jar is filling up, we are more than halfway to the top, which means there will be a cupcake party in our future! Our second grade friend Leo has started a Monopoly craze, he has been teaching friends to buy, buy, buy and explaining to them
that happiness is buying property! Speaking of buying things...
Throughout the month of April we will be introducing the concept of money, how it affects our daily life, how we earn it, and knowing when to save it and when to buy things with it.We will start on our HEDP “bank”, which will be located in our classroom. Ever since we have discussed this with the class they have been asking when it will happen and how they can use their money in our class, this should be lots of fun!
We will be having our very first SuperHero Day on the 9th, where we will be having Superhuman Trivia, making our own superhero capes and cooking some food that will give us some super power energy while we play games together.
