![]() October 2012 Heath Extended Day 3-6 News What has 3-6 been up to? The 3-6 students have transitioned back to the school year smoothly and are in the full swing of things at extended day. After their daily homework and snack time, the kids have been spending a great amount of time outside taking advantage of the beautiful September weather. They have been enjoying four-square, basketball, swinging on the monkey bars, playing catch with the football, playing soccer against the wall, street hockey, water balloon pinatas, water balloon tosses, and hanging out with friends. Some kids have chosen to spend some time inside creatively making beanie buddy key chains. We are so happy to see the many different interest of the group and will continue to create a program based on these different interests. Many of the children in this year’s extended day class have showed a great interest in the game of Monopoly. It seems as though we have a lot of future bankers and realtors, as they have been spending much of their free choice time practicing these skills. Through this game, they are learning about money (counting, organizing and making change), the value of money (saving and not spending too much). It has been a great team building game, as students are teaching others how to play and communicating about what decisions to make. There has been a mix of older and younger students involved in the game!
