In DECEMBER...
We hope all of you had a great November! We have a lot to be thankful for and had a chance to share these things during this past month. We enjoyed learning about each other’s families and creating books about ourselves, titled “All About Me!” We included self-portraits in our books and they have been fun to look at and guess whom the drawing is of! We displayed our team spirit by cheering on our Heath Flag Football Team and joining them for a celebratory barbecue. Our class celebrated two of the children’s birthdays in November on the 28th with a birthday bash! The children had fun decorating giant birthday cards and eating brownies!!! This month we will be learning about children book authors, with a focus on Eric Carle, Ezra Jack Keats, Laura Numeroff, Mo Williams, Ian Falconer, Marc Brown and Shel Siverstein. We will be creating a class book based on the story, “Mixed Up Chameleon” by Eric Carle as well as several other writing activities. Children will experience retelling traditional literature using gestures and dramatizing using props. The children will apply appropriate techniques, tools and formulas to determine measurements when baking gingerbread babies, pancakes and muffins. Through the year we will be doing art appreciation and focusing on several different artists and types of art. This month we will focus on photography and the children will create characters to collage in with real life photos. We are excited to see how these will turn out!!
