Heath Extended Day 1/2 Green Newsletter Welcome to April : Hopefully, Spring is finally here! In March, we enjoyed reading a Dr. Seuss book every day and worked on creating rhyming words just like the rhyming master himself, Dr. Seuss. We enjoyed some Dr. Seuss themed snacks such as “cat in the hat” kabob” made out of bananas marshmallows strawberry's During the month of April, we will be accomplishing your child's goals for the year. Week 1: Cooking Week: During cooking week students will take turns helping to make delicious recipes. Wednesday 4/6: we will complete Eli’s goal of baking a chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. Thursday 4/7: we will complete Elsie’s goal of cooking pasta with cheese. Friday 4/8: we will complete Eric’s goal of making Spätzle a kind of soft egg noodle found in the cuisines of southern Germany and Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Alsace and South Tyrol. Week 2: Science Week Monday 4/11: We will complete Liam’s goal of making a Bottle Launcher we will also celebrate opening day by having a Fenway Cook out Tuesday 4/12: Early Release Day Green Team Tie Dye shirts and Socks please send your child in with a T-Shirt or Socks Wednesday 4/13: Exploring Building and Building Lego Sets Thursday 4/14: Biggest Structure challenge Friday 4/15: Strongest Structure challenge Week 3: Happy Vacation!!! Week 4: Sports: During sports week, the rocking green team will play a variety of different sports Giorgos and Michael have goals to learn how to play baseball and what better time to learn baseball than when the Red Sox return to open their season at Fenway park ( that is if it stops snowing ) No School April Vacation: April 18-22 Early Release Days: Wednesday, April 6th Tuesday, April 12th Wednesday, April 27th Tuesday, May 3rd As the weather begins to warm up, we will be spending a lot of time outdoors playing. We will also bring craft projects outside so that students can have a variety of options ranging from sports and tag to arts and crafts. Please be sure your child brings a light jacket or sweatshirt for the cooler temperatures at the end of the day. Donations to our classroom are greatly appreciated! This month our wish list items include: Any used Lego sets with all the pieces, mentos and 4 liters of Coca-Cola. Finally, please consider joining in the RUN A MILE TOGETHER WITH US on June 12th, 2016 as part of the Village Fair.
