Heath Extended Day 2-6 Newsletter Spring is in the air… We have been so lucky to have such bright and sunny afternoons, lately. The kids have spent a great amount of time in their afternoons enjoying the lovely weather. We have noticed many of the children independently getting a game of soccer, basketball, wall-ball and/or baseball started. In addition to spending a lot of time outside, the children have been participating in projects and activities focused around Earth Day. They have been working on an Earth Day activity packet in which they have learned many ways they can help contribute to a “greener Earth.” The children painted clay pots and planted spices for your family to grow and enjoy! Some children participated in making bags out of old jeans. They learned how to sew the bags and then they used their creativity to decorate them! We thought it would also be fun to make the dessert called “dirt” as a fun way to wrap up this unit! We are sure they will enjoy this special treat! Introducing LEGO Club Students at HEDP have shown an interest in building with Lego® blocks. We would like to encourage the creativity and imagination that the students bring. Starting in the month of May, we will be starting a LEGO club at extended day for first and second grade students. SAVE THE DATE!Thursday, June 9th HEDP End of Year Party! We are excited to announce that the theme of this year’s end of the year party is Alice in Wonderland! The children in k-1 and 2-6 will spend the majority of May and June preparing for this event! They will create games and decorations for students, faculty and families to enjoy! For a couple of weeks leading up to the big day, the teachers will be reading Alice in Wonderland to the children! More information to follow!
