September Newsletter 2013 As the summer visits us for one last time, the 2-3 HEDP classroom teachers are eagerly preparing for the children to arrive. The Team is looking forward to learning about each individual child’s interest and creating safe, fun filled activities around these interests. The 2-3 Team is composed of Ellie Edraos who is returning for her third year at HEDP. This summer she enjoyed lounging by the pool while reading and spending time at the barn with her horses. Ellie is very excited about having a fun filled year with all the 2nd and 3rd graders and is looking forward to getting to know them. Priscilla Bartley is returning to HEDP after taking off one year. She is coming back a new graduate of UMass Boston with her masters in Special Education, Moderate Disabilities K-8. She spent her summer spending quality time with her family and doing what she loves best...working with children. Priscilla is very excited to see some familiar faces in grades 2 and 3 as well as see some new ones. Caitlyn Ennis is returning for her second year at Heath Extended day. She is a Junior at Wheelock College and is studying Social Work. Over the summer Caitlyn nannied for a family in Concord and worked at Kimball Farms where she scooped Ice Cream. In her free time, Caitlyn traveled to Maine and New Hampshire and spent time with friends and family. During the month of September the 2-3 children will be focusing on activities with a Fall theme and working on team building activities that will help them transition into the 2013-2014 school year. During a typical day we encourage you to come observer your child enjoying his/her time at Extended Day. As your child’s safety is our top priority, if your child is going to be absent from Heath Extended day, please call 617.879.4565 before 2:00p.m. on the day of the absents or email heathextendedday@gmail.com. News letters will be published at the beginning of every month and your child’s goals will be incorporated into our curriculum as the school year progresses. Our daily schedule will consist of a meeting, snack, homework time, outdoor play, activity, free choice and story time. We encourage children to bring books or items they are interested in reading from home or provide a list to us. This will help during our homework and DEAR time. We look forward to working with your family and encourage you to share any questions or concerns on a regular basis. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to share the afternoons with your child!
