Looking back:
February was filled with fun projects and events! Many students got the opportunity to work towards their extended day goal. We started the month learning about Groundhog Day and celebrated the Super Bowl with a party. During our science and engineering week we observed an egg in vinegar and took notes of our observations. The class got to watch a vinegar volcano erupt and experiment with static electricity using balloons and other materials. The kids drafted designs for a castle and then constructed their buildings using marshmallows and frosting as the glue. We also had a friendship themed week where we focused on how to be a good friend. The students came up with the qualities they think would make a good friend and we discussed how you should treat others the way you would like to be treated. The snow brought endless amounts of fun. It was great to have everyone so excited to be outside and enjoy all the activities you can do in the snow. The kids who brought in helmets had a blast sledding on the side hill. After the snow days and February break, the kids returned to a Dr. Seuss themed week! So far we have practiced rhyming, read Dr. Seuss stories, and worked on themed art projects. Springing Forward: As we head into March we will continue to have students focus on achieving their goals. We will celebrate the beginning of Spring and study about rain and flowers. We will also have a week dedicated to bugs and exploring all different types of creepy crawlers. As the weather warms up we plan to spend more time outside learning and playing different sports. Warm Wishes, Krista, Tess, and Kelly
