What has happened:
January was a jolly month! We made our own beautiful art using simple dots and patterns, you can see your child's art work displayed around the classroom. Making dumplings has a huge hit! Thank you so much to Ya-Lin Huang, Ying Xie, and Fei Du for taking time out of your day to come to extended day and teach our students how to make dumplings. During E week we learned how the earth rotates and revolves at the same time as it travels in space. We also learned how long it takes the for earth to rotate and how long it takes to revolve around the sun. Letter F’s week we read stories about different families and who makes up a family. Letter G focused on geometry and as a class we completed a challenge to find all the different ways to fill a hexagon using triangles, trapezoids, and rhombuses. It was a huge success! Half way through the week on half way day we switched to letter H; and ended the week with hat day. What is to come: In February we will be doing letters I through M. During letter I we will be constructing igloos with sugar cubes and icing. For letter J we will attempt to make our own jam! We will be designing our own kites for letter K. Our class will be exploring words that start with the letter L through art. We will be ending February with music week! We will be learning about beats, learn a new song, and make our own instruments. Wish list: Empty glass jars with lids Empty coffee cans Empty water bottles Any empty containers with lids NO SCHOOL: 2/20-2/24: February Vacation Warm Wishes, Angelica, Christiane, & Caroline
